The Indiana Midwifery Taskforce is comprised of women and men with the purpose of legalizing Direct Entry Midwifery in Indiana. Our mission is to promote and pass legislation that will provide a legal procedure for practice by Certified Professional Midwives.
We believe that access and affordable midwifery care is a valuable option that should be made available to Indiana families. The safety of midwifery care and home birth has been proved. We believe that families should be able to choose qualified, legal birth attendants in any setting: home, hospital or birthing center.
Our goal is to promote the Midwifery Model of Care through legislative recognition of Certified Professional Midwives in Indiana.
